This bulletin is being issued to revise Chart A-3 in the following Service Manuals: 1993-95 Buick Skylark, 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier/Pontiac Sunfire Book 2 of 2, 1993-94 Chevrolet Beretta, 1993-95 Oldsmobile Achieva, 1993-95 Pontiac Grand Am and the 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier/Pontiac Sunfire Update. A step in Chart A-3 for the 2.3L engine does not specify what state the ignition lock cylinder should be in. This could lead the technician to incorrectly diagnose the vehicle.
The Service Manuals should instruct the technician to "Turn the ignition "OFF" before taking the resistance reading" as described in the test, as it was "ON" in the previous step. The revision should be completed on the following pages of the Service Manuals:
