Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

CAUTION: To reduce the risk of fire and personal injury that may result from a fuel leak, always replace "O" ring seals exposed during component service.

Fuel Rail/Front Fuel Pipe:






REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
3. Remove the fuel rail assembly from the engine.

Fuel Rail Assembly:






DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove the pressure regulator retaining screws.
2. Remove the pressure regulator assembly from the fuel rail.
^ Twist back and forth while pulling apart.
3. Remove the regulator retainer.
4. Remove the fuel rail to regulator base seal, and discard.

ASSEMBLY
1. Lubricate the new fuel rail to the fuel regulator base seal with clean engine oil, and install it in the regulator.
2. Install the regulator retainer.
3. Position the fuel regulator assembly on the fuel rail.

NOTE: If there is not enough thread locking material on the threads of the reusable hardware to insure proper locking, apply Loctite 262 or equivalent.

4. Tighten the pressure regulator screws to 11.5 N-m (102 lb. in).

INSTALLATION
1. Position the fuel rail on the engine and attach.
2. Connect the negative battery cable.
3. With the engine "OFF" and the ignition switch "ON" check for fuel leaks.
