Water Pump: Service and Repair

Remove or Disconnect
1. Drain coolant, partially.
2. Coolant recovery reservoir.
^ Lay aside.

3. Serpentine belt guard, bolts and nuts.
4. Loosen coolant pump pulley bolts.
5. Serpentine belt.
6. Coolant pump pulley bolts and pulley.
7. Coolant pump attaching bolts.
8. Coolant pump and gasket.
Clean
^ Coolant pump mating surfaces

Install or Connect
1. Gasket and coolant pump.
2. Attaching bolts.
Tighten
^ Bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb. in.)

3. Coolant pump pulley and LOOSELY install attaching bolts.
4. Serpentine belt.
5. coolant pump pulley bolts to specifications.
Tighten
^ Bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb. ft.).

6. Serpentine belt guard, bolts and nuts.
7. Coolant recovery reservoir.
8. Refill coolant.
Important
^ To properly fill the system requires the use of the air bleed vents.

Inspect
^ For leaks.
