Throttle Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair

Accelerator Controls:

Accelerator Cable Bracket:

Accelerator Pedal:

Remove or Disconnect
1. Lower instrument panel trim attaching screws, retaining nut and lower instrument panel trim
2. Disconnect accelerator cable from accelerator pedal
3. Squeeze accelerator cable cover tangs and push cable through dash panel
4. Remove accelerator cam splash shield
5. Turn throttle body accelerator cam and hold
^ Remove accelerator cable end slug from throttle body accelerator cam
^ Slowly release throttle body accelerator cam
^ Slide cable from accelerator cable bracket

NOTE: To prevent possible interference, flexible components must not be routed within 50mm of moving parts, unless routing is positively controlled.

Inspect
Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating accelerator pedal. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal. Throttle should operate freely without bind between full closed and wide open throttle.
