Intermediate Shaft Belt Sprocket
INTERMEDIATE SHAFT BELT SPROCKET
TOOL REQUIRED:
- J 37096 Flywheel Holding Tool
- J 38616 Camshaft and Intermediate Shaft Sprocket Remover
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Secondary timing belt. Secondary Timing Belt
2. For timing purposes, verify the relationship of the sprocket to front cover.
3. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
4. Flywheel inspection cover.
5. J 37096.
6. Lower vehicle.
7. Mounting bolt and washer.
NOTICE: Hitting the nose of the intermediate shaft and/or prying the sprocket will cause thrust bearing damage.
8. Sprocket using J 38616.
9. Sprocket.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Lubricate the seal or seal running surface of the intermediate shaft sprocket.
NOTICE: Do not damage the intermediate shaft oil seal during intermediate shaft belt sprocket installation.
2. Sprocket into position on the intermediate shaft through the oil seal.
3. Engage the locating tangs of the sprocket into the mating sockets of the chain sprocket.
- Verify engagement of the tangs by measuring from front face of intermediate shaft belt sprocket to the front cover. If measurement is more than 42 mm (1.65 inches) the tangs are NOT engaged.
- Make sure that the reference and timing marks are properly aligned.
4. Lightly lubricate the shaft seal (0-ring) and place it into position at the end of the intermediate shaft.
5. Bolt and washer into intermediate shaft.
- Lightly lubricate the bolt threads and washer before installing. DO NOT over lubricate.
TIGHTEN
- Bolt to 130 Nm (96 lb. ft.) holding crankshaft to prevent rotation.
6. Raise vehicle.
7. Remove J 37096.
8. Flywheel inspection cover.
9. Lower vehicle.
10. Secondary timing belt, refer to "Secondary Timing Belt".
