Thermostat: Service and Repair






REMOVAL
1. Air cleaner and duct assembly.
2. Partially drain coolant.
3. Upper radiator hose at thermostat housing.
4. Throttle cable cover.
5. Thermostat housing retaining bolts.
6. Thermostat housing.
7. Thermostat. Clean gasket mating surfaces.

INSTALLATION
1. Thermostat.
2. Gasket.
3. Thermostat housing to intake manifold.
4. Bolts to housing with RTV sealer GM P/N 1052366 (or equivalent). Tighten bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
5. Throttle cable cover.
6. Upper radiator hose to thermostat housing.
7. Air cleaner and duct assembly.
8. Refill coolant. Inspect for leaks.

NOTE: To properly fill a system that has been completely drained requires the use of the air bleed vent.
