Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley: Service and Repair

Tools Required:
J 36660 Torque Angle Meter
J 37096 Flywheel Holding Tool
J 38197 Crankshaft Balancer Remover

Crankshaft Balancer Assembly:

Remove or Disconnect

1. Serpentine belt.
2. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
3. Right front wheel and tire assembly.
4. Right engine splash shield.
5. Flywheel access cover.

Holding Flywheel Using J 37096:

6. Balancer bolt while holding flywheel using J 37096.
7. Crankshaft balancer using J 38197.

Important
^ The balancer is serviced as an assembly. Do not attempt to separate pulley from balancer hub.

Install or Connect

1. Crankshaft balancer
^ Lubricate seal surface with engine oil.
2. Balancer bolt while holding flywheel using J 37096.

Tighten
^ Balancer bolt to 150 N.m (111 lb. ft.) + 76° using J 36660.

3. Right engine splash shield.
4. Right front wheel and tire assembly.
5. Flywheel access covers.
6. Lower vehicle.
7. Serpentine belt.
