Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair

Fig. 3 Lefthand Exhaust Manifold Replacement:

LEFT SIDE

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove air cleaner.
3. Raise and support vehicle.
4. Straighten exhaust manifold bolt locking tabs.
5. Disconnect exhaust cross-over pipe from exhaust manifold.
6. Lower vehicle, then remove exhaust manifold heat shrouds, Fig. 3.
7. Remove lower alternator bracket, then remove exhaust manifold and gasket.
8. Reverse procedure to install.

Fig. 4 Righthand Exhaust Manifold Replacement:

RIGHT SIDE

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect oxygen sensor electrical connector.
3. Raise and support vehicle.
4. Disconnect exhaust cross-over pipe from exhaust manifold.
5. Remove oil filter adapter and gasket, then remove front righthand wheel and tire assembly.
6. Straighten exhaust manifold bolt locking tabs, then remove bolts, Fig. 4.
7. Remove exhaust manifold and gasket.
8. Reverse procedure to install.
