Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

1. Depressurize and disconnect fuel lines from fuel rail, then disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove serpentine drive belt, then the alternator and braces.
3. Remove power steering pump and braces and position aside.
4. Remove coolant bypass hose, then the heater pipe.
5. Remove upper radiator hose, then the air inlet duct.
6. Remove throttle cable bracket and cables from throttle body.
7. Disconnect vacuum hoses, then electrical connectors.
8. Remove the fuel rail, then disconnect the vapor canister purge line.
9. Remove heater hose from the throttle body, then disconnect the rear spark plug wires.
10. Remove the intake manifold bolts, then the manifold.
11. Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
a. Clean the intake manifold bolts and bolt holes of adhesive compound.
b. Apply sealant 12345336 or equivalent, to the ends of the manifold seals.
c. Apply thread lock compound 12345493 or equivalent, to the manifold bolt threads.
d. Torque the manifold bolts following the sequence in Fig. 5.
e. Lubricate throttle body coolant and heater pipe O-rings with anti-freeze before assembly.
