General Description

Remote Lock Control Transmitter/Key Chain:

The Keyless Entry System or Remote Lock Control (RLC) allows the driver to unlock the drivers door, unlock all doors, lock all doors or release the luggage compartment lid by the use of a hand held transmitter. The minimum range of the transmitter is approximately 7 meters (23 feet).

Important
Under some conditions the range may be decreased or the receiver may not operate due to interference from anonymous radio frequencies. Therefore the door lock key (oval head) should be attached to the ring on the transmitter so it will be available if needed.

When the drivers door is unlocked by using the RLC transmitter the interior lamps are turned on and remain on for approximately forty seconds or until the ignition lock cylinder is turned to the RUN position.

Remote Lock Control (AX3) is an option. Vehicles with this option do not have door jam switches on the front doors for interior lamp control. Four door models do use door jam switches on the rear doors only to control the interior lamps when a rear door is open. The chime module controls the interior lamps when a front door exterior door handle is lifted up. The Remote Entry Module controls the interior lamps when the UNLOCK button on the transmitter is pressed.

Serial data is transmitted on a radio frequency carrier signal at 315 MHz from the transmitter to the Keyless Entry Module (receiver) when one of three buttons on the transmitter is pressed. The three buttons are:

1. Door Lock
2. Door(s) Unlock
3. Luggage Compartment Release

The RLC transmitter is resistant to moderate temperature changes, shock, moisture, dust and most common household and automotive fluids.
