This bulletin replaces 89-T-51 which may be discarded. This bulletin is being revised to update the torque specification listed in the body of the text. The torque specification listed on the illustration is correct.
Some Customers may comment on increased steering effort, slight wander and returnability.
This condition may be caused by an over torqued pinch bolt at the steering column to Intermediate Shaft and/or Intermediate Shaft to the Steering Gear Assembly, see Figure 1.
To correct this condition, loosen the pinch bolts at the Intermediate Shaft to Steering Gear Assembly and to Steering Column and re-torque to 40 N-m (30 lbs.ft.). Road test vehicle for proper steering effort.
