CONDITION:

A squeak or itch (plastic to plastic sound) may be heard in the instrument panel (IP) area of the 1987 to 1989 Cutlass Ciera.

CAUSE:

The instrument cluster lens is not properly retained to the cluster body, and may cause an itch or squeak. This condition was corrected with the following VIN breakpoints:

CORRECTION:

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

2. Remove the instrument cluster following Service Manual instructions.

3. Install two clips, P/N 16130132, at the lower corners of the cluster, as shown in the Figure 1 (right hand side shown). The clip should be rolled onto the glass, with the toothed side put on first.

4. Reinstall instrument cluster, reconnect negative battery cable, and check cluster for proper operation.
