Some 1985-87 Cutlass Ciera models equipped with either a 2.8L or 3.8L MPFI V-6 engine may exhibit a no start condition when parked in a nose down attitude of approximately 15 degrees with less than a quarter of a tank of fuel.

This condition may be caused by air/fuel vapor ingestion through the vapor rejection port of the fuel pump resulting in fuel starvation.

Vehicles exhibiting this condition may be repaired by installation of a in-tank fuel pump that incorporates usage of a vapor rejection port with an umbrella check valve.
