Door Armrest Pad - Dislodges When Door Is Slammed

AUTOMATIC SAFETY BELT SYSTEM
Delta 88 models with passive belts (automatic safety belts) may experience a condition with armrest pads coming loose or falling off when the door is closed. This may occur on cars built prior to midMarch, 1987. These can be identified by the absence of a fastener at the rear face of the armrest pad.

To correct the above condition, the following procedure should be used:

1. Remove armrest.

2.. Cut out the armrest base template (furnished) and lay in place as shown in Figure 1.

3. Drill two (2) 1/8" holes using template, and attach the new bracket (part no. 20739984 ordered from GMSPO), using two (2) 1/8" pop rivets (part no. 9432552 or a standard 1/8" rivet). See Figure 2 for installed bracket location.

4. Cut out required armrest pad template (furnished) and lay in place as shown in Figure 1.

5. Drill one (1) 8.5 mm diameter hole in the armrest at template location.

6. Reinstall armrest pad to base and secure with push type fastener as shown in Figure 2. Fasteners are to be ordered from GMSPO by trim color as follows:
