When it is necessary to replace the rocket emblem on the tail lamp assembly due to loss or damage, do not replace the complete lamp assembly. The rocket emblem, without the chrome bezel, is now available through GMSPO under part number 16507586.

A new "S" shaped adhesive pattern was used in production after November 12, 1987 and cars built after VIN JM233546 will have the new emblem adhesive pattern.

FIGURE 1:

Install new emblem as follows:

1. Remove old adhesive and clean dirt, wax or oil from the bezel.

2. Refer to Figure 1 and apply RTV adhesive as shown to the back of the emblem and install into bezel. Follow the adhesive manufacturers instructions for retention and cure times.
