The following is supplemental information to Dealer Management Bulletin 86-1-15.

Oshawa (Plant 1) - Oldsmobile

In January of 1986, the Oshawa Plant 1 (VIN Code 9) changed from lacquer to the BC/CC (Basecoat/Clearcoat) paint system starting with VIN 2G3AM19X8J9334081 for Oldsmobile.

From start of production, (1/20/86), no "WA" numbers were being used on the service parts identification label. Later in production, the plant started using the lacquer "WA" numbers. However, new "WA" numbers have been assigned and appear on the service parts identification label starting with VIN 2G3AJ19R669339695 for Oldsmobile. When refinishing all BC/CC 1986 Oshawa Plant 1 vehicles, these new "WA" numbers must be used to achieve an acceptable color match when repairing the BC/CC finishes.

To aid in identifying this plant, the eleventh position in the VIN number will be a "9". Listed below are the correct "WA" number for each color.

Follow the paint manufacturer's recommendations when repairing the BC/CC finishes.
