Dealer Letter

TO ALL OLDSMOBILE DEALERS:

Oldsmobile Division is releasing Campaign 85-E-01 involving some 1985 Oldsmobile Calais, Cutlass Ciera, Cutlass Cruiser and Ninety-Eight models equipped with RPO LN7 3.0L engine (VIN Code L) or RPO LN3 3.8L engine (VIN Code 3) and Federal Emissions which may be emitting pollutants in excess of the Federal Emission Standards.

Dealers are to replace the PROM assembly in the Electronic Control Module (ECM) on vehicles involved, as directed in Product Campaign Bulletin 85-E-01. If there is evidence of intentional disablement of the emission system, the dealer is to notify the vehicle owner of this condition and ask if he/she wants the system restored. Restoration cost is the responsibility of the owner.

If your dealership has vehicles involved in this campaign, you will receive with the campaign bulletin a list of Vehicle Identification Numbers. This data will enable you to follow-up with involved owners.

We urge you to limit the use of these lists to the follow-up needed for this campaign. Names and addresses from State Vehicle Registration files may be included; it is illegal in many states to use such data outside of campaigns.
