INSTRUMENT PANEL VINYL SEPARATION/BUBBLING 1982 and 1983 CUTLASS CIERA

CONDITION
Separation of the instrument panel vinyl covering from the instrument panel may occur in the windshield defroster duct area on some 1982 and 1983 Cutlass Cieras.
CORRECTION
Instrument panel vinyl separation, or bubbling of the instrument panel vinyl in the windshield defroster duct area, may be corrected by installing a defroster grille, Part No. 22520990 over the defroster duct openings.
Refer to the following procedure for defroster grille installation.
1. Color coat the defroster grille to match the instrument panel.

2. When the grille is dry, snap it into the defroster duct opening on the top center of the instrument panel. Secure all four locking tabs to assure a tight fit. Refer to Figure 1.
NOTICE: Steps 3 and 4 are necessary only if the separated or bubbled vinyl covering in the defroster duct area will not allow the grille to seat properly..
3. Carefully cut the instrument panel vinyl along the center of the area between the defroster ducts. Refer to Figure 1.
4. Prior to defroster grille installation use a small amount of trim adhesive such as 3M 08031 or equivalent to fasten loose vinyl covering to the instrument panel. Refer to Figure 1.
