Brake Pedal Assy: Testing and Inspection

Inspection and Adjustment
Check brake pedal free height from dash reinforcement panel. Adjust if necessary.

1. Loosen the stop lamp switch by turning it 45° to the left.





2. Loosen lock nut A on input rod and adjust the pedal to specified height by turning the input rod. When finished adjusting tighten lock nut A.

CAUTION: Make sure that the screw portion of the end of input rod is located inside the clevis.

Lock nut A: 16 - 21 Nm (1.6 - 2.2 kg-m, 12 - 15 ft. lbs.)
3. Push the stop lamp switch while keeping the pedal drawing near by hand until the end of screw portion of the stop lamp switch touches the stopper rubber.
4. Keeping the end of the screw of the stop lamp switch pressed against the stopper rubber, turn the switch 45° to the right and then fix it.

CAUTION: Make sure that the gap (C portion) between the stopper rubber and the end of screw of stop lamp switch is within specification.

5. Check the play of the pedal.

CAUTION: Make sure that the stop lamp goes off when the pedal is released.

6. Start the engine and check the height of the brake pedal when depressing it.
