AIR INDUCTION VALVE
Apply vacuum to fitting and confirm that air passes through the large hose towards the exhaust manifold only.
^If diaphragm does not hold vacuum or AIV does not allow air to pass in proper direction replace AIV.

Fig. 175 Solenoid Function Test:

AIV SOLENOID FUNCTION TEST
Apply voltage to the solenoid terminals as shown above and check air passages for continuity.
CAUTION: Reversing polarity will damage the solenoid.
^Replace solenoid if it fails above test.

Fig. 174 Solenoid OHM Test:

AIV SOLENOID RESISTANCE TEST
Check the solenoid resistance value with a suitable ohm meter as shown above.
Should be approximately 40 OHMS.
^Replace solenoid if it fails above test.
