NO FAST IDLE, 1984 FEDERAL SENTRA AND PULSAR NX


The 1984 Federal Sentra and Pulsar NX vehicles equipped with the E16 engine have a computer controlled idle speed. The system consists of a vacuum control modulator (VCM), an idle speed control valve, and a "fail-safe" system. The "fail-safe" system consists of two vacuum switches and two vacuum cut solenoid valves. Pages EF & EC-48 and -49 of the 1984 Sentra and Pulsar Service Manuals describe complete idle speed component operation.

If no fast idle occurs, use the following diagnostic procedure to locate the malfunction.
