Side Cover, Replace

1. Discharge system and drain oil.

2. Loosen and remove eight side cover mounting bolts in an alternate pattern as shown, Fig. 5.
3. Remove side cover and side cover gasket and discard gasket.
4. Remove silencer springs, pieces, and O-rings, being careful not to damage O-ring surface of silencer piece, and discard O-rings.
5. Ensure that side cover gasket surface and shell gasket surface are not damaged.
6. Ensure that silencer pieces and shell contact surfaces in contact with O-rings are not damaged.
7. Place mounting surface of side cover upward.
8. Ensure that holes of cylinder and shell are aligned, then install new O-rings.
9. Coat O-ring and area around shell hole with suitable amount of clean refrigerant oil.
10. Using O-ring installer KV99412328 or equivalent, install O-ring into shell hole.
11. Using silencer piece installer KV99412327 or equivalent, install silencer piece.
12. Coat gasket surface of shell with clean refrigerant oil and position gasket and side cover.

13. Holding side cover in place, thread in eight mounting bolts. Tighten bolts evenly in alternating pattern, Fig. 4, and torque to 13-14 ft. lbs.
14. Fill compressor with clean refrigerant oil and perform leak test.
