SERVICE INFORMATION
Some 1984 200SX models equipped with ASCD and manufactured prior to the applied Production date above, may exhibit slight surging when the speed control is engaged. This surging will be felt, but may not register on the speedometer or tachometer. To correct this condition, adjust the tension of the ASCD wire. If surging continues, replace the ASCD control unit with the current production ASCD control unit listed in the following Parts Information.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
ASCD WIRE TENSION ADJUSTMENT
1. Tighten ASCD wire with adjusting nut until clearance between portion A of the throttle lever and the ASCD lever is 0.8 to 0.9mm (0.32 to 0.36 in) (Figure 1).
2. Securely tighten lock nut to hold adjusting nut in place.
REPLACEMENT OF ASCD CONTROL UNIT
1. Remove ASCD control unit from behind the kick panel, driver's side (Figure 2).
2. Replace the ASCD control unit with a new, appropriate ASCD control unit (see Parts Information below).
