Inspection Procedure 10
CIRCUIT OPERATION
- The trunk lid lock key cylinder switch sends a signal to the ETACS-ECU.
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
- The ETACS-ECU disarms the theft-alarm system when the trunk lid lock key cylinder switch is moved to the unlock position (OFF).
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- Malfunction of the trunk lid lock key cylinder switch
- Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
- Damaged harness wires and connectors
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Check the trunk lid lock key cylinder switch for continuity.
1. Remove the trunk lid lock key cylinder switch.
2. Disconnect the trunk lid lock key cylinder switch connector.
3. Operate the switch, and check the trunk lid lock key cylinder switch for continuity.
If there is continuity, go to Step 2.
If there is no continuity, replace the switch. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
STEP 2. Check trunk lid lock key cylinder switch F-22 for damage.
If harness connector F-22 is damaged, repair or replace it. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.
If harness connector F-22 is in good condition, go to Step 3
STEP 3. Check that the harness wires between trunk lid lock key cylinder switch connector F-22 and ETACS-ECU C-81.
If the harness wires between trunk lid lock key cylinder switch F-22 and ETACS-ECU C-81 are damaged, repair them. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wires are in good condition, go to Step 4.
NOTE: After inspecting intermediate connectors C-67 and F-16, inspect the wire. If intermediate connectors C-67 and F-16 are damaged, repair or replace them. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.
STEP 4. Check the harness wires between trunk lid lock key cylinder switch F-22 and body ground.
It the harness wires between trunk lid lock key cylinder switch F-22 and body ground are damaged, repair them. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wires are in good condition, go to Step 5.
STEP 5. Check symptoms.
Confirm that the theft-alarm system is disarmed when the trunk lid lock key cylinder switch is moved to the unlock position.
