SUBJECT:
CENTER CONSOLE LID LATCH REPLACEMENT

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
This bulletin contains instructions for replacing the center console lid latch assembly on certain 1997 and all 1998 - 2003 Diamante vehicles. This latch was not previously available as a service part, requiring center console lid replacement in the event of latch malfunction. The latch can now be ordered separately and replaced without replacing the center console lid. Parts are now in stock at Mitsubishi Motors Parts Distribution Centers.

NOTE: 1997 Diamante vehicles built before 6/1/97 have a center console lid without the cupholders which are a part of the console lid on later vehicles. The latch assembly and related procedures discussed in this bulletin do not apply to these early-production vehicles.
