Alternator Brush: Testing and Inspection

1. Ensure the brushes have not been worn to or beyond their wear limit,

Brush wear limit: 3.8 mm (0.15 in.)

2. Check the brush springs for burning and loss of tension due to excessive heat.

3. Check the slip rings for excessive wear and damage.

Minimum slip ring diameter: 26.7 mm (1.05 in.)
