Drive Belt: Testing and Inspection
CheckGENERATOR AND AIR CONDITIONER
Check the tension of the drive belt. Inspect the drive belts for evidence of cuts and cracks, and replace if defective.
1. Measure the deflection with a force of 98 N (22 lbs.) applied to the belt at the mid-point between two pulleys as shown in the illustration. If the standard value is not obtained, make adjustment.
Standard value: 7.9 - 9.7 mm (0.31 - 0.38 in.)
2. Use a tension gauge to check the belt tension at the mid point between the two pulleys.
Standard Value: 490 - 686 N (110 - 154 lbs.)
POWER STEERING PUMP
1. Push at the mid point of the belt with a force of 98 N (22 lbs.) to measure the drive belt deflection.
Standard value: 11.0 - 14.2 mm (0.43 - 0.56 in.)
2. Use a tension gauge to measure belt deflection..
Standard value: 373 - 569 N (84 - 128 lbs.)
