This bulletin contains new, revised steering rack overhaul procedures. Please replace those in each service manual with the instructions as shown in this bulletin.
Write the TSB revision number of this bulletin in the "TSB Revision" box at the bottom of the affected service manual page.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The steering rack overhaul procedures are changed because of revised construction and configuration of the internal parts. The chart shown lists part numbers for some internal parts. The steering rack was revised beginning with February 1999 production. A update kit, MR921301 is available to update steering racks built before February 1999 to the newer specification.
NOTE:
If the MR921301 update kit is used, all parts listed in the "Up to February 1999 Build" should be discarded.
