Interior - Console Lid Replacement Procedure

CENTER CONSOLE LID INSTALLATION
PURPOSE
When replacing a center console lid, be sure that it is installed correctly. Many replacement lids have been returned only because they were difficult to install. If the console lid comes loose, do not assume that it is defective. Reinstall the lid as described in this bulletin.
The lid may become detached by the customer attempting to open the lid incorrectly, by pulling up the front end. Advise customers that the lid can only be opened by pushing the side button.

PROCEDURE
1. Open the console lid and locate the small knob in the center of the front section of the lid, which is an interlock release. This interlock release will allow you to operate the side buttons.
Do not push the interlock release until Step 3.
2. Open the lid and hold it at approximately 45 degrees.
3. Use one hand to press the interlock release inside the lid. While depressing the interlock release, push the side button on the hinge side. The lid should detach from the console.
4. Examine the underside of the lid. Notice that the hinge pins are retracted when the side button is depressed.
5. If you push the interlock release in the center, the side button moves to the neutral position. When the side buttons are in this position, they can be operated.
However, if one side button is depressed, you cannot operate them until both side buttons are returned to the neutral position by depressing the interlock release.
6. Depress the side button on the open side as shown. This will engage the hinge pins on the other side.
7. Set the lid to the floor console as shown. Be sure that the side with the retracted pins is applied to the console.
Push the lid sideways toward the console as far as it can go.
8. Close the lid, keeping the hinge in position and holding the lid it at approximately 45 degrees. Then use one hand to push the interlock release.
The lid should now be properly installed.
