Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) System Monitor
Test conditions and main points to note:1. Conduct test drives in a manner that will ensure all the following conditions are met:
1. Engine coolant temperature: 80 °C (176 °F) or higher (with the engine fully warmed up).
2. Outside air temperature: 5 °C (41 °F) or higher.
3. Selector lever position: D range.
4. A/C switch: OFF.
2. The following drive pattern (from start up to when the ignition is turned off) completes one trip monitor (Time required is approximately 10 minutes.)
<>1: After the engine is completely warmed up, turn off the ignition.
<>2: Start the engine and accelerate quickly until speed reaches 56 - 64 km/h (35 - 40 mph).
*3: Monitoring period: When engine speed is between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm, fully close the throttle and decelerate until the engine speed reaches approximately 900 rpm without braking. Do not manipulate the steering wheel or switch any lights on or off during this period.
<>4: Accelerate to between 56 - 64 km/h (35 - 40 mph) and drive for 20 seconds or more. (An interval of 20 seconds or more is required between one monitoring (ending with deceleration) and the next monitoring (ending with deceleration). Ensure that steps 3 and 4 have been fully completed a total of 8 times..
<>5: Decelerate and stop the vehicle. After stopping the vehicle, turn off the ignition.
