OBD II Drive Cycle

1. Catalytic converter monitor (P0421, P0431)

Test conditions and procedures

1. Perform a road test in a state where all of the following conditions are satisfied.
1. Atmospheric temperature: -10° C (14° F) or higher
2. A/T conditions:
- Selector lever position: D range
- Overdrive switch: ON
- Power/economy changeover switch: Power
3. A/C switch: OFF
2. One trip monitoring is completed by making a trip in the following pattern (from when the engine is started to when the ignition switch is placed in the OFF position). (Required time approx. 20 minutes)
*1: Start the engine and quickly accelerate it until the vehicle speed exceeds 72 kph (45 mph).
*2: Preliminary period before monitoring: While maintaining the vehicle speed within a range from 72 to 97 kph (45 to 60 mph), continue to travel for more than 300 seconds. Depressing the brake pedal (for a few seconds at a time) during the period does not present any problem.
*3: Decelerate the engine until the vehicle speed falls within a range from 56 to 64 kph (35 to 40 mph).
*4: Monitoring in progress. While maintaining the throttle opening constant (minimize the amount the throttle is changed) on a flat surface and keeping the vehicle speed within a range from 56 to 64 kph (35 to 40 mph), continue to travel for more than 90 seconds.
*5: Fully close the throttle to decelerate the engine. (In this case, you may depress the brake pedal.)
After keeping the decelerated state for 10 seconds, quickly accelerate the engine until the vehicle speed reaches any speed between 56 and 64 kph (35 and 40 mph). Thereafter, repeat *4 and *5 six times.
(Make sure that the number of times the *4 and *5 hold good totals 6.)
*6: Decelerate the engine and stop the vehicle. After the vehicle has come to a stop, set the ignition switch to OFF.
