Alternator Relay: Testing and Inspection

Generator Relay Continuity Check:

1. Remove the generator relay from the relay box inside the engine compartment.




2. Set a ohmmeter and check that there is continuity when the (+) terminal of the tester is connected to terminal -4 of the generator relay and the (-) terminal is connected to terminal 2.
3. Next check that there is no continuity when the (+) terminal is connected to terminal 2 and the (-) terminal is connected to terminal 4.
4. If the continuity checks in steps 2 and 3 show a detect replace the generator relay.
