Intake Manifold: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
Pre-removal Operation:
(1) Coolant Draining.
(2) Residual Fuel Pressure Releasing.
Follow removal steps outlined in illustration.
Removal Service Points
[A] High Pressure Fuel Hose Disconnection.
Relieve pressure in the fuel pipe line to prevent fuel outflow.
CAUTION: Cover fuel pipe line with shop towel after relieving pressure as certain pressure may still remain.
[B] Fuel Rail, Fuel Injector And Pressure Regulator Removal.
Remove fuel rail with fuel injector and pressure regulator on.
CAUTION: Do not drop injector when removing fuel rail.
INSTALLATION
Installation in reverse order as removal.
Installation Service Point
]A[ High-Pressure Fuel Hose Installation.
(1) When connecting the high-pressure fuel hose to the fuel rail, apply a drop of new engine oil to the O-ring, and then insert, being careful not to damage the O-ring.
CAUTION: Do not let engine oil in the fuel rail.
(2) Check that the high-pressure fuel hose turns smoothly. If not, remove the hose and then re-insert it into the fuel rail and check again.
(3) Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
Post-installation Operation:
(1) Coolant Supplying.
(2) Accelerator Cable Adjustment.
INSPECTION
Check the following points. Replace the part if a problem is found.
Intake Manifold Check
1. Check for damage or cracking of any part.
2. Check for obstruction of the negative pressure (vacuum) outlet port, and for obstruction of the water passage or gas passage.
3. Using a straight edge and a feeler gauge, check for distortion of the cylinder head installation surface.
