Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
Pre-removal Operation:
- Residual Pressure Release.
- Engine Coolant Draining.
- Intake Manifold Plenum Removal.

Follow removal steps outlined in illustration.

Removal Service Point





[A] Fuel Rail (With Injectors) Removal.
Disconnect the fuel rail with the injector attached to the fuel rail.

CAUTION:
1. Be careful not to drop the injector when removing the fuel rail.
2. Be aware that fuel will flow out when the injector is removed.

INSTALLATION
Installation in reverse order as removal.

Installation Service Points





]A[ Intake Manifold Gasket Installation.
Attach the gasket to the cylinder head, facing the adhesive coated side toward the intake manifold.





]B[ Intake Manifold Installation.
Apply lubricant sparingly to the intake manifold mounting nuts.

Post-installation Operation:
- Intake Manifold Plenum Installation.
- Engine Coolant Filling.
- Accelerator Cable Adjustment.
- Fuel Leakage Checking.





INSPECTION
Check the following points. Replace the part if a problem is found.
(1) Check for damage or cracking of any part.
(2) Clogging of the negative pressure (vacuum) outlet port, or clogging of the water or gas passages.
(3) Check deflection of installation surface with straight edge and thickness gauge.
