Cylinder Head Assembly: Service and Repair








REMOVAL
Pre-removal Operation:
- Exhaust Manifold Removal.
- Air Intake Manifold Removal.
- Timing Bed Removal.

Follow removal steps outlined in illustration.

Removal Service Points





[A] Camshaft Sprocket Removal.
Using special tools, remove the camshaft sprocket from the camshaft.





[B] Cylinder Head Assembly Removal.
Using the special tool, remove the cylinder head assembly.

INSTALLATION
Installation in reverse order as removal.

Installation Service Points





]A[ Cylinder Head Gasket Installation.
(1) Use a scraper to remove the cylinder head gasket from the cylinder block.

CAUTION: Take care that no foreign material gets into the cylinder, coolant or oil passages.

(2) Make sure that the gasket has the proper identification mark for the engine.
(3) Lay the cylinder head gasket on the cylinder block with the identification mark at the front top.





]B[ Cylinder Head Assembly Installation.
(1) Use a scraper to clean the gasket surface of the cylinder head assembly.

CAUTION: Take care that no foreign material gets into the coolant passages or oil passages.

(2) Using the special tool and a torque wrench, tighten the bolts to the specified torque in the order shown in the illustration. (in two or three cycles)

CAUTION: Install the head bolt washers with chamfer up as shown in the illustration.





]C[ Camshaft Sprocket Installation.
Using the special tool, attach the camshaft sprocket to the camshaft.

Post-installation Operation:
- Timing Belt Installation.
- Air Intake Manifold Installation.
- Exhaust Manifold Installation.
- Engine Adjustment.
