Alternator Brush: Testing and Inspection

1. Measure the brush projecting length shown in the illustration. If the length is less than the limit, replace the brush.
Limit: 2 mm (0.8 in.) or less

Brush Replacement:

2. Desolder the lead wire of the brush. Then the brush will come out.
3. When installing a new brush, push the brush in the brush holder as shown in the illustration, and solder the lead wire.
