Alternator and Ignition System Exploded Views

1. Refer to the illustration for the service procedure.





2. Use the flywheel stopper tool No. MD998781, or equivalent, when servicing the crankshaft.





3. When installing the distributor, turn the crankshaft clockwise until cylinder No. 1 is at top dead center on its compression stroke.
4. Align the alignment marks on the distributor housing and coupling.
5. Fit the distributor onto the engine, aligning the stud bolts with the slots in the distributor mounting flange and tighten the mounting bolts to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.).
6. Reverse procedure to install, being sure to tighten the crankshaft bolt to 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.).
