Cylinder Head Bolt Torque and Sequence

Cylinder Head Bolt Shank Length: 99.4 mm (3.913 inch)
LOOSENING SPECIFICATIONS
In the order shown, loosen the cylinder head bolts in 2 or 3 passes.
NOTE: Because the plug guides cannot be replaced by themselves, be careful not to damage or deform the plug guides when removing the cylinder head bolts.
TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS
Cylinder Head Bolts (Cold Engine)
1st Step: 78 Nm (58 ft. lbs.)
2nd Step: Loosen Bolts Completely, In Reverse Order Shown
3rd Step: 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
4th Step: 90° Clockwise
5th Step: Additional 90° Clockwise
NOTE:
- Tighten the bolts in the order shown.
- Mark the head of the cylinder head bolt and cylinder head by paint.
- In the order shown in the illustration. Check that the painted mark of the head bolt is lined up with that of the cylinder head.
CAUTION:
- Always make a tightening angle just 90°. If it is less than 90°, the head bolt will be loosened.
- If it is more than 90°, remove the head bolt and repeat the procedure from step 1.
