Procedures
CAUTION:- Use DOT3 or DOT4 brake fluid. Avoid using a mixture of the brake fluid and other fluid.
NOTE:
- When replacing the hydraulic unit or if the system is being left for a long period of time with no brake fluid, the scan tool should be used to bleed the air from the hydraulic unit, per scan tool instructions.
- Connection and disconnection of the scan tool should always be carried out with the ignition switch in the "OFF" position.
1. Set the scan tool.
2. Start the engine and run it at idle.
3. Operate the scan tool to force-drive the actuator (item No. 05) in order to bleed the air from the hydraulic unit.
CAUTION:
- While bleeding the air, brake fluid should be added so that there is always some fluid inside the reservoir tank.
- Filter/strain the brake fluid being added to the reservoir. Debris may damage the hydraulic unit.
- After bleeding the air from the hydraulic unit, always be sure to bleed the air from the brake line. Service and Repair
NOTE:
- If the function is stopped by the fail-safe, forced driving of the actuator cannot be accomplished.
