Reading Diagnostic Trouble Codes
CAUTION1. If battery Voltage is low, diagnostic trouble codes will not be output. Accordingly, be sure to check the battery before carrying out inspection.
2. If the battery is disconnected or if the Electronic Control Module connector is disconnected, the diagnostic trouble code memory will be erased. Accordingly, the battery should not be disconnected until reading of the diagnostic trouble codes has been completed.
3. Connection and disconnection of the scan tool should always be carried out with the ignition switch in the OFF position.
PROCEDURES
1. Connect the scan tool to the data link connector, and read the diagnostic trouble codes.
2. Repair the malfunction while referring to TROUBLE CODE DESCRIPTION.
3. Turn the ignition switch to OFF and then back to ON again.
4. Erase the diagnostic trouble codes using the scan tool.
5. Check to be sure that the diagnostic trouble code is normal.
