1. Connect an analog voltmeter to the diagnostic output terminal (No. 6 terminal) and the ground terminal (No.4 or 5 terminal) of the data link connector.

CAUTION: When connecting the voltmeter to the ground terminal (No. 4 or 5 terminal), use the special tool (diagnostic trouble code check harness).

2. Read out the diagnostic trouble codes by observing the voltmeter pointer deflection.
3. Repair the problem location, referring to the diagnostic chart.






NOTE: Other diagnostic items are also indicated by the waveforms corresponding to the diagnostic trouble codes obtained when a scan tool is used.
