Removal

1. Remove timing belt as described in Timing Belt.

2. Remove cylinder block plug and insert 0.31 inch diameter Phillips screwdriver through hole to block left balance shaft, Fig. 28, then remove oil pump sprocket nut and sprocket.

3. Remove crankshaft sprocket bolt, washer and sprocket, then remove crankshaft flange, Fig. 27.
4. Remove balance shaft belt tensioner, then mark rotational direction on belt and remove. Keep timing belt, sprocket and tensioner free of oil and water; do not wash or lubricate these parts.
5. Remove right balance shaft sprocket and spacer, crankshaft sprocket and key, then engine support bracket and timing belt under cover.
