Ignition Lock: Service and Repair

Refer to Technician Safety Information for Air Bag Arming and Disarming.

1. Remove steering wheel as outlined under Steering Wheel.
2. Remove upper and lower steering column covers.
3. Remove column switch as outlined under Steering Column.
4. Remove key interlock cover and cable.

5. Remove slide lever, Fig. 5.

6. Remove steering lock by cutting special bolts using a suitable hacksaw, Fig. 6.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Temporarily install steering column lock using new special bolts and ensure proper operation.
b. Tighten special bolts until heads twist off.
