Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Description and Operation

Intake Air Temperature Sensor Circuit:

Purpose
The ECM uses the intake air temperature sensor signal to calculate fuel injection duration.

Operation
The intake air temperature sensor--a negative temperature coefficient thermistor--converts intake air temperature into a corresponding voltage drop.
- Sensor resistance--and the voltage dropped across the sensor--increases as temperature decreases.
