Door - Rattle Noise From Power Window Regulator
NO.: TSB-93-42B-005DATE: October, 1993
MODEL: 1994 Galant
SUBJECT:
DOOR RATTLE
PURPOSE
Some 1994 Galant vehicles built prior to VIN # RE030399 and equipped with power windows may experience a metallic ping or rattle when closing the door. This is caused by the window regulator motor mounting bolts being longer than the thread depth. This prevents the motor from being tightly secured within the door. Follow the procedures described in this bulletin to correct this condition.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Remove the affected door's trim panel. Do not damage the waterproof film.
2. Check the three regulator motor mounting bolts and washers. Although the bolts may appear tight, the bolt washers may rotate easily.
3. If the washer is loose, add an additional washer to each of the three bolts and retighten.
CAUTION:
Do not remove all three bolts at the same time. Removing all motor bolts may cause the motor to shift and damage the regulator mechanism.
4. Check the attachment of the regulator motor by tapping on the inner metal door panel and listening for a ping or rattle noise. If a noise is heard, additional washers may be necessary.
5. Reinstall the door trim panel.
