Steering Wheel: Service and Repair
Refer to Technician Safety Information for Air Bag Arming and Disarming.1. Remove horn pad attaching screws, then the horn pad. On some models there are no horn pad attaching screws. To remove, push horn pad upward.
2. Remove steering wheel attaching nut.
3. Scribe mating marks on steering shaft and steering wheel for installation reference.
4. Using a suitable steering wheel puller, remove steering wheel. Do not hammer on steering wheel to remove. Damage to the collapsible mechanism may occur.
5. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Align mating marks on steering shaft and steering wheel.
b. Torque steering wheel attaching nut to 30 ft. lbs.
