Removal and Replacement
1. Drain power steering fluid as follows:a. Raise and support front of vehicle, then disconnect power steering fluid return hose.
b. Connect a vinyl hose to return hose and drain fluid into a suitable container.
c. Disconnect coil wire to prevent engine from starting, then crank engine intermittently while turning steering wheel back and forth between stops to purge remaining fluid from power steering circuit.

2. Remove power steering pump in numbered sequence shown, Fig. 12.
3. Reverse procedure to install. Adjust pump drive belt tension as necessary.
4. Bleed air from power steering fluid as follows:
a. Raise and support vehicle, then rotate oil pump pulley several times by hand and turn steering wheel back and forth between stops through 5 or 6 cycles.
b. Disconnect coil wire to prevent engine from starting, then crank engine intermittently while turning steering wheel back and forth between stops. Ensure reservoir is kept full during bleeding process. Do not attempt to bleed system with engine running.
c. After turning steering wheel from stop to stop 5 or 6 times, connect coil wire and start engine.
d. Turn steering wheel from stop to stop until no bubbles appear in reservoir. Ensure fluid is not milky and fluid level does not diminish greatly when steering wheel is turned.
