Fuel Pump: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Remove rear seat cushion.
2. Locate and remove the service access cover.
3. Disconnect harness connector.
4. Start and run the engine until it stalls, then turn the ignition switch to OFF.
5. Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
6. Remove the fuel tank cap.
7. Disconnect fuel line and vapor hoses.
CAUTION: Cover with a shop towel to avoid gasoline spillage from any residual fuel in the line.
8. Remove mounting nuts, lift and turn assembly out of tank.
NOTE: As there is a reservoir cap inside the fuel tank, if the fuel gauge unit and pump assembly is tilted to the right and inserted, the fuel gauge unit and pump assembly will touch the reservoir cap.
INSTALLATION
1. Reverse removal procedure, make sure to use a new gasket.
CAUTION: When tightening the flare nut, be careful not to bend or twist the line.
Fuel line torque: 34 Nm (25 ft.lbs.)
Mounting nut torque: 2.5 Nm (1.8 ft.lbs.)
