Fuel Injector: Service and Repair




NOTE: Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief prior to removal of injectors.
Removal Steps
1. Fuel pressure hose connection
2. 0-ring
3. Fuel return hose connection
4. Vacuum hose connection
5. Fuel pressure regulator
6. 0-ring
7. PCV hose
8. Injector connectors
9. Fuel rail

Removal Service Points
Remove the fuel rail with injectors attached to it.

Caution: Care must be taken, when removing the fuel rail, not to drop the injector.




Installation Service Points
Injector Installation
(1) apply a drop of new engine oil to the 0-ring.

Caution: Be sure not to let engine oil in the fuel rail.

(2) While turning the injector to the left and right, install it to the fuel rail.
(3) Check to be sure that the injector turns smoothly. If it does not turn smoothly, the 0-ring may be trapped, remove the injector and then re-insert it into the fuel rail and check once again.

Fuel Pressure Regulator Installation
(1) When connecting the fuel-pressure regulator to the fuel rail, apply a drop of new engine oil to the 0-ring, and then insert, being careful not to damage the 0-ring.

Caution: Be sure not to let engine oil in the fuel rail.

(2) Check to be sure that the fuel pressure regulator turns smoothly. If it does not turn smoothly, the 0-ring may be trapped, remove the fuel pressure regulator and then re-insert it into the fuel rail and check once again.

(3) Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.

Specified tightening torque: 9 Nm (6.5 ft.lbs.)




Fuel Pressure Hose Installation
(1) When connecting the fuel pressure hose to the fuel rail, apply a drop of new engine oil to the 0-ring, and then insert, being careful not to damage the 0-ring.

Caution: Be sure not to let engine oil in the fuel rail.

(2) Check to be sure that the fuel pressure hose turns smoothly. It does not turn smoothly, the 0-ring may be trapped. Remove the fuel pressure hose and then re-insert it into the fuel rail and check once again.
(3) Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
