ABS - Light ON Intermittently/Multiple DTC's Set

ABS LIGHT COMING ON/DTC 41-48, 51, 52
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Due to current ABS control unit software programming, the ABS warning light may come on intermittently. This may occur more frequently at cold ambient temperatures. Further, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) 41 through 48, 51 or 52 may also be set in the ABS control unit (ABS ECU).
To eliminate the ABS warning light condition, the ABS ECU must be replaced.
Additionally, if any of the above DTCs are set, the appropriate service manual brake system inspections and repairs must be performed.

1994, 1995 and 1996 Galants
PROCEDURE
1. Using the scan tool, check to see if any DTC has been set in the ABS ECU.
a. If DTC 41 to 48, DTC 51 or 52 has been set, perform the appropriate inspection and repair procedures described in section 35B of the Galant service manual. If the cause of the DTC cannot be determined, go to Step 2.
2. Replace the ABS ECU as described on page 35B-44 of the 1994-95 Galant service manual or page 35B-38 of the 1996 Galant service manual.
3. Remove the valve relay at the ABS hydraulic unit.
4. Remove the rubber insulator from the relay bolt hole as shown.
5. Reinstall the valve relay, using the same bolt.
